Vinachem Strengthens Knowledge and Capacity for Occupational Safety and Hygiene

12:20 AM @ Thursday - 08 October, 2026

On 8 October 2026, in Da Nang city, the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) organised the 2026 Occupational Safety and Hygiene (OSH) Training Course for 160 participants, including managers, staff in charge of OSH, on-site OSH supervisors, trade union chairpersons, and safety and hygiene officers from member units.

The course, held over two days (8–9 October 2026), focused on updating new legal regulations, enhancing knowledge and skills in OSH, and helping to prevent occupational accidents, work-related illnesses, and safety risks in production and business activities.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Quý, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group; Mr. Chu Văn Giáp, Member of the Members’ Council of Vinachem; Mr. Lê Hoàng, Deputy General Director; Mr. Trần Văn Long, Supervisor; Mrs. Nguyễn Thu Phương, Chief of Office of the National Centre for Occupational Safety and Hygiene, Ministry of Home Affairs; lecturers from the Centre and 160 participants.

Production Characteristics Demand High Safety Standards

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông, Chairman of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union, noted that Vinachem operates in many sectors, including those directly related to chemicals such as H₂SO₄, H₃PO₄, HCl acids, Cl₂ gas, industrial gases, rubber, fertilisers, and plant protection products.

These are fields with inherent risks of occupational accidents, fire and explosions, chemical leaks, and environmental incidents. Meanwhile, the Group’s workforce exceeds 19,000, with production facilities located across the country.

Given the nature and scale of operations, ensuring worker safety, maintaining stable production, and preventing occupational accidents are constant requirements for Vinachem and its members.

Alongside inspection, supervision, and enforcement of legal regulations, Vinachem has identified communication, training, and raising awareness of legal knowledge and compliance with OSH regulations as key solutions to prevent and reduce work accidents and occupational diseases.

Updating Regulations and Improving Incident Response Skills

During the training, lecturers from the National Centre for Occupational Safety and Hygiene, Ministry of Home Affairs, delivered content linked to management and production realities at member units.

Topics covered the current legal documents on OSH; the situation regarding occupational accidents, analysis of causes and common risks; new regulations on decentralisation and streamlining of conditional business procedures in OSH training under Resolution 66.18/2026/NQ-CP; and regulations on the production, business, and transport of chemicals under current decrees.

Participants were also guided on risk assessment, emergency response planning, reporting, investigation, and self-inspection for OSH; and administrative penalties in labour and social insurance under Decree 283/2026/NĐ-CP.

Direct exchanges between participants and lecturers helped clarify practical issues, thereby improving the ability to identify risks, assess hazards, and proactively implement preventive measures at each unit.

Translating Knowledge into Production Practice

OSH at Vinachem has in recent years been implemented more comprehensively, from the development of protection plans and resource allocation to regular inspection and supervision.
In 2025, the total budget for labour protection work across the Group’s units was about VND 200 billion. In 2026, member units plan and expect to spend around VND 208 billion.

According to summary data on labour protection in 2025 and the first half of 2026, the total number of occupational accidents has decreased; there have been no fatal accidents or new cases of occupational disease.

The training is intended not just to update knowledge, but more importantly to translate acquired content into practical application at each unit. Participants are required to absorb knowledge seriously, complete an assessment, and after the course, continue to disseminate and guide workers to comply fully with OSH regulations.

By enhancing the capacity of those directly responsible for and supervising OSH, Vinachem continues to strengthen prevention, risk identification, and safety control, contributing to building a safe working environment, ensuring stable production and business activities, and achieving the objectives set for 2026.
