On June 16, 2026, at the International Convention Center (Hanoi), the Vietnam Fertilizer Association held a seminar on “Orientation for the Development of the National Fertilizer Industry in the Context of Global Geopolitical Volatility” with the participation of representatives from state management agencies, experts, scientists, financial organizations, and the fertilizer business community.

Dr. Phùng Hà, Chairman of the Vietnam Fertilizer Association, delivers the opening speech at the seminar

Attending the seminar on behalf of the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) were Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fertilizer Association, General Director of Vinachem; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện – Deputy General Director of Vinachem, along with leaders from several affiliated fertilizer manufacturing units.

At the seminar, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú delivered a presentation on Vinachem’s strategies for fertilizer and plant protection production and business in the new period.

In the context of continued global economic, trade, and geopolitical complexity, and with supply chains for input materials under pressure, Vietnam’s fertilizer industry is facing the need for dramatic innovation to ensure sustainable development. According to Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, as a core state-owned economic group in the chemical industry, Vinachem not only focuses on business and production development but also takes on the responsibility of ensuring a stable fertilizer supply, thus contributing to national food security.

After nearly 60 years of development, Vinachem now owns many reputable fertilizer brands that have been close to generations of Vietnamese farmers, such as Supe Lâm Thao, Đạm Hà Bắc, DAP Đình Vũ, Bình Điền, Phân lân Văn Điển, etc. Each year, the Group supplies approximately 4 million tons of various fertilizers to the market, including about 1 million tons of urea, 1 million tons of phosphate, 600,000 tons of DAP, and about 1.5 million tons of NPK.

However, according to the General Director of Vinachem, the Group’s goal is not only to supply fertilizer products but also to accompany farmers throughout the entire production process, contributing to higher crop yields, improved agricultural product quality, and greater economic efficiency.

“We are determined not just to sell fertilizer, but to become a companion for farmers—supporting them with knowledge, techniques, and suitable cultivation solutions to enhance production efficiency and develop sustainable agriculture,” —  emphasized Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú.

Accordingly, a key focus of Vinachem is to develop specialized, efficient, and environmentally friendly fertilizer products. Member units are ramping up research on product lines tailored to specific crops, ecological regions, and growth stages; at the same time, priority is given to developing products for green agriculture, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and meeting the increasingly high demands of domestic and international markets.

Alongside traditional products, Vinachem is actively researching and developing organic fertilizers, biofertilizers, and modern crop nutrition solutions. Notably, on May 7, 2026, Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemicals JSC officially launched SOP (Potassium Sulfate), offering farmers more choices for high-value crops.

To ensure stable supply for long-term agricultural production, Vinachem is implementing a range of solutions to secure input materials—from efficiently exploiting domestic resources to expanding international cooperation and researching green sources such as green ammonia and green hydrogen. This is a crucial foundation for maintaining stable production, enhancing competitiveness, and minimizing the impact of global market fluctuations.

At the same time, Vinachem continues to promote technological innovation, digital transformation, and green transition across its system. Member units are gradually modernizing production lines, increasing automation, utilizing renewable energy, and optimizing material and energy consumption to reduce production costs, lower product prices, and deliver practical benefits to users.

A notable highlight of Vinachem’s presentation was the orientation to build a sustainable agricultural ecosystem centered on farmers. On May 18, 2026, the Group officially launched the Vinachem Agriculture platform, connecting experts, scientists, businesses, and farmers in a unified digital ecosystem.

Through this platform, as well as field conferences, demonstration models, agricultural extension activities, and technical transfers, Vinachem not only provides products but also helps farmers access modern cultivation knowledge, apply the “4 rights” fertilizer use principle, improve input efficiency, and reduce production costs.

“Our ultimate goal is to increase the value of Vietnamese agricultural products, raise farmers’ incomes, and build a modern, green, efficient, and sustainable agriculture,” affirmed Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú.

Also at the seminar, Vinachem’s General Director stated that the Group will continue to invest in scientific research, innovation, and the establishment of research and development (R&D) centers and key laboratories to master technology and develop new-generation, high-value-added fertilizers.

In conclusion, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú expressed his wish for continued support from ministries, sectors, localities, scientists, businesses, and farmers to jointly build a sustainably developing Vietnamese fertilizer industry, contributing to national food security and enhancing the position of Vietnamese agriculture on the international stage.
