Vinachem Attends Vietnam–Myanmar Business Forum, Exploring Cooperation Opportunities
On the morning of 6th September in Hanoi, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Văn Thắng co-chaired the Vietnam–Myanmar Business Forum. Attending the forum, on behalf of Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), was Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director, together with representatives of other major state-owned corporations and the business communities of both countries.

The forum was organised to mark the official visit to Vietnam by President Min Aung Hlaing and aimed to strengthen business connections and promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Notably, Vinachem was one of 22 state-owned groups and corporations listed as participants. The list included enterprises active in key sectors such as Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation (Vinataba), Vietnam Railways (VNR), Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), Vietnam National Coffee Corporation (Vinacafe), Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood I), Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex), Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG), Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), Southern Food Corporation (Vinafood II), Vietnam Forestry Corporation (Vinafor), Vietnam Debt and Asset Trading Corporation, Bao Viet Group, Vietnam Computerised Lottery Company, and the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB).
Vinachem’s participation among the state-owned giants helped to expand the Group’s network with Myanmar’s partners and businesses, and enabled it to update information about the market and fields prioritised for investment in Myanmar.
Myanmar Opens Up Opportunities for Cooperation with Vietnamese Enterprises
In his address, Myanmar’s President Min Aung Hlaing highlighted the considerable potential for further economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Myanmar.

According to the forum, bilateral trade turnover in the first six months of 2026 reached USD 336 million, up 26% compared to the same period in 2025. Vietnam is currently the seventh largest foreign investor in Myanmar.
President Min Aung Hlaing called on Vietnamese enterprises to make use of regional trade agreements and to cooperate with Myanmar partners in sectors such as agricultural processing, cold storage, logistics, food, fisheries, and agricultural inputs. Myanmar also wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in digital infrastructure development, cyber security, digital transformation, information technology, digital payment systems, and manufacturing technology for high-tech zones.
These areas may open up further opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to study and expand cooperation in Myanmar. For Vinachem, participating in the forum was an opportunity to grasp development orientations, understand market needs, and explore potential connections in relevant sectors.
Vinachem Proactively Seeks Cooperation Opportunities
Vinachem currently has member units operating across various chemical sectors, including fertilisers, basic chemicals, technical rubber, detergents, and products serving agricultural production.
In line with Myanmar’s cooperation priorities outlined at the forum, agricultural development, agro-processing, and increasing input supplies for production are areas of particular interest. These are also closely related to the core business activities of many Vinachem member units.
Additionally, joining the forum alongside state-owned groups in energy, telecommunications, logistics, aviation, maritime, agriculture, finance, and technology provides further opportunities for Vinachem to explore and seek coordination in trade and investment activities.

In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Văn Thắng stressed the need to enhance connectivity and complementarity between the two economies; to establish a stable and transparent legal corridor and favourable environment to help enterprises improve competitiveness and expand investment and business operations.
He also urged Vietnamese enterprises to continue expanding investments in Myanmar in sectors where there is local demand, such as telecommunications, digital transformation, agriculture, education, and training. At the same time, he expressed hope that Myanmar would create a favourable, stable, and predictable investment climate, while supporting the resolution of legitimate difficulties and obstacles faced by Vietnamese businesses.
For Vinachem, participation in the Vietnam–Myanmar Business Forum is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen links, update market information, and explore international cooperation opportunities. Through the forum, the Group gained further access to Myanmar’s development directions, engaged with partners, and explored potential areas of cooperation aligned with Vinachem’s capacity and market requirements.

Proactive participation in trade and investment promotion forums attended by top leaders of both countries also helps Vinachem broaden its partner network, progressively explore new opportunities, and strengthen its ability to connect with the regional market.
