On the morning of January 22, 2026, a working delegation of the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), led by Comrade Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director of the Group, paid a visit to the National Key Laboratory for Petrochemical Refining Technology (Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry) and held a working session on orientations for building a system of key research laboratories and the Group’s Research and Development (R&D) Center.

Joining the delegation were Comrade Chu Văn Giáp, Member of the Members’ Council of the Group; representatives of the Group’s Controllers; Comrades Nguyễn Tuấn Dũng and Đào Trọng Cường, Deputy General Directors of the Group; representatives of the leadership of the Investment and Construction, Engineering, and Finance and Accounting Departments; together with leaders of the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry.

During the on-site inspection, the delegation directly visited the laboratory facilities, equipment systems, and working conditions at the National Key Laboratory for Petrochemical Refining Technology. Despite facing numerous difficulties and shortages in facilities, the staff and experts of the Center have made great efforts to maintain research activities, gradually meeting the requirements of the assigned science and technology tasks.

On the same day, the delegation held a working session on orientations for building a system of key research laboratories and the Group’s Research and Development (R&D) Center. Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director of the Group, emphasized that the establishment of an R&D Center is an urgent requirement, stemming from the Party’s guidelines and the Central authorities’ directives, while also meeting practical needs within the Group’s long-term development strategy. He affirmed that science and technology must have a spillover effect and be closely linked to the specific tasks of each member unit; the R&D Center should not only carry out research missions but also be associated with training, capacity building, and the development of high-quality human resources for the entire Group.

On that basis, the General Director assigned the Engineering Department to take the lead, in coordination with the Investment and Construction Department, the Finance and Accounting Department, and the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry, to conduct preliminary research and prepare a consolidated report for submission to the General Director for consideration and direction. He also noted that this should be identified as a strategic investment in science and technology, aimed at forming intellectual property assets, creating a foundation for sustainable development, and enhancing the Group’s long-term competitiveness.

The meeting reaffirmed the determination of the leadership of the Vietnam National Chemical Group to promote investment in science and technology, gradually build a modern research and development ecosystem, and contribute to the successful implementation of the strategy to transform the growth model, increase added value, and proactively master technologies in the Group’s core areas.
