Vinachem Discusses Trends in the Chemical and Agricultural Sectors with McKinsey
On the afternoon of 30 September 2026 in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) held a discussion with experts from McKinsey & Company on development trends in the chemical and agricultural sectors, international business experience, and solutions to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Representing Vinachem were Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director; and representatives from the Business Planning, Technical, Communications and Development Departments. The McKinsey team included experts Xin Huang, Sheng Hong, and Davis Arifin.
Industry Trends Update
During the meeting, McKinsey experts provided updates on global trends in the chemical industry and shared experiences from companies in the chemical and agricultural sectors.
Discussions focused on strategy, growth, innovation, operational efficiency, and supply chain management. The application of data analytics and digital technology in production and business activities was also addressed.
McKinsey & Company is a management consultancy with a global network, supporting leaders and businesses in building strategy, improving efficiency, fostering innovation, adopting technology, and developing organisational capabilities. In the field of chemicals, McKinsey has a team of specialists and consultancy programmes relating to petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, agricultural inputs such as fertilisers, operational efficiency, and supply chain management.
Exchanging Views on Operational Efficiency and Competitiveness
Building on the topics shared, Vinachem and McKinsey exchanged views on solutions to enhance operational efficiency, supply chain management, and business competitiveness.
Data analytics and digital technology were discussed in relation to the need for renewed management approaches and improved operational effectiveness. These are also priorities in the transformation and development process for chemical enterprises.
Among the McKinsey representatives, Mr. Xin Huang is an expert in transformation and supply chain optimisation, data analytics and digital technology; Mr. Sheng Hong leads McKinsey’s Chemicals and Agriculture practice in Mainland China; and Mr. Davis Arifin leads the Chemicals and Agriculture practice for McKinsey in Southeast Asia, with particular expertise in operational transformation.
Through these discussions, Vinachem raised issues regarding improving operational efficiency, supply chain management, and the application of data and digital technology in its development process. The Group will continue to research and select solutions suitable to its practical operations, while exploring potential areas for cooperation with McKinsey.
