Vinachem Promotes Substantive Cooperation with French Enterprises in Green Transition and Technology
On 10th September 2026 in Paris, during the official visit of General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the French Republic, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director of Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), attended and delivered a speech at the Vietnam–France Business Leaders’ Roundtable. He shared Vinachem’s development orientation and proposed specific areas for cooperation with French enterprises in technology, green transition, trade, and high value-added product development.
The Vietnam–France Business Leaders’ Roundtable was one of the key economic activities during the official visit of General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, attended by President Emmanuel Macron of France and senior leaders from both countries. The event, co-organised by the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and the French employers’ federation (MEDEF), brought together leaders of leading corporations and businesses from both nations.
At the roundtable, Vinachem General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú participated in the panel on healthcare, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and environmental solutions. Under the theme “Vinachem Unlocking Potential, Expanding Opportunities for Cooperation in France for Green Transition, Sustainable Development, and Double-Digit Growth,” his speech clarified Vinachem’s development strategy for the new era and the sectors in which the Group seeks substantive partnership with French companies.
International Cooperation Linked to Double-Digit Growth Targets
As a core state-owned enterprise in Vietnam’s chemical industry, Vinachem maintains a comprehensive production base across key sectors. The Group’s business activities centre on six main areas: fertilisers and plant protection products; basic chemicals; cosmetics and personal care; electrochemicals; rubber; and mining.
In 2025, Vinachem achieved revenue of USD 2.4 billion, profit of USD 146 million, and was ranked 148th on the Fortune Southeast Asia 500. Building on this foundation, the Group identifies technological innovation, green transition, digital transformation, enhancing value addition, and expanding international markets as strategic focuses to achieve double-digit growth for 2026–2030 and beyond.
In its international cooperation strategy, Vinachem recognises French chemical companies as important partners for green transition and sustainable development. This approach builds on existing connections that Vinachem has established with French corporations and organisations in industry, technology, green energy, cosmetics, and human resource training.
Focusing on Green Technology and High Value-Added Products
In its drive for technological renewal and green transition, Vinachem sees cooperation with French enterprises as not only an opportunity for broader connection, but crucially as a means to access technology, experience, and solutions applicable to production.
According to General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú, a key priority for cooperation is the transfer of green technology, energy-saving technology, automation, and factory optimisation solutions. These fields are directly relevant to modernising production, improving energy efficiency, and driving the green transition across Vinachem’s enterprises.
While upgrading existing manufacturing sectors, Vinachem also aims to cooperate in research and development of high-tech, high value-added products such as next-generation fertilisers, energy storage batteries, premium cosmetics, ultra-pure chemicals, and industrial gases for electronics, semiconductors, and rare earth extraction.
This approach is intended to leverage the technological strengths and experience of French enterprises, supplementing Vinachem’s capabilities in its strategic development areas, and progressively increasing the scientific and technological content of its chemical products.
Expanding Markets and Deeper Value Chain Participation
Technological cooperation must also be followed by commercial opportunities and deeper participation in value chains between the two countries’ businesses. Vinachem aims to bring core and strong products into markets with high quality and ESG requirements such as France, gradually integrating into supply chains in France and the EU.
Cooperation is to be developed in both directions. In addition to boosting exports, Vinachem seeks to cooperate in manufacturing and importing suitable products from France, and to facilitate French partners’ participation in the Group’s value chains.
In the field of cosmetics – one of France’s prominent strengths – Vinachem is exploring deeper cooperation models, including technology transfer, franchising, or joint ownership of premium cosmetic brands. Through this, high-quality products can reach the Vietnamese market and gradually expand to Southeast Asia.
The consistent message in General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú’s speech was to move beyond networking and potential discussions to concrete programmes and projects. Through the roundtable, Vinachem seeks to enhance connections with the French business community, progressing to substantive cooperation projects and contracts in technology, trade, human resource training, and green transition.
As Vietnam–France relations continue to deepen, proactively identifying specific areas for partnership with French businesses not only broadens Vinachem’s international cooperation but also provides technological, market, and management resources for the Group’s development. In doing so, Vinachem will steadily enhance competitiveness, promote green transition, and reinforce its role as a core state-owned enterprise in Vietnam’s chemical industry for the new era.
