Vinachem Surveys Kayan Apatite Mine and Laboratory in Egypt, Strengthening a Sustainable Raw Material Supply Chain
Translated by Phương Thảo06:54 PM @ Sunday - 19 April, 2026
On April 17, 2026, in Egypt, a delegation from the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) led by General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú conducted an on-site survey at the apatite mine and laboratory system of Kayan Group. This activity aimed to concretize the objective of ensuring a sustainable source of raw materials for domestic fertilizer production, following the strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both parties on April 14, 2026.

Kayan’s ore mine is located in the eastern area of Luxor province, about 600 km south of Cairo, situated along a favorable transport corridor connecting local raw material regions with key export ports on the Red Sea coast. This geographical position facilitates efficient mining, transportation, and international trade of the ore.

At the site, the delegation directly examined the mining, selection, and transportation processes as well as the quality control system from the initial stage. Notably, the modern laboratory system located right at the mine enables rapid analysis of key technical indicators such as P₂O₅ content, impurities, and moisture in accordance with international standards before the ore enters the commercial market.

The thorough evaluation—from extraction capacity to on-site technical control—reflects Vinachem’s careful and proactive approach to building a stable, long-term cross-border raw material supply chain. This forms an important basis for objectively and comprehensively assessing the ability to meet technical requirements for fertilizer production.

The combination of Kayan’s resource potential and Vinachem’s large-scale production needs goes beyond commercial transactions, opening up opportunities for cooperation in ore beneficiation technology, quality control, and value chain management. Through this, Vinachem continues to affirm its leading role as a state-owned enterprise in proactively securing input resources amid international market fluctuations.
The results of this survey provide a foundation for both sides to build a detailed cooperation roadmap, deepening the partnership and contributing to the promotion of friendly relations between Vietnam and Egypt, bringing practical benefits to the development of the chemical and agricultural sectors.
