Vinachem Works with Sweco and Aellia on Energy Saving and Production Safety Solutions

10:01 AM @ Monday - 05 October, 2026

On the afternoon of 5 October 2026 in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) held discussions with representatives of Sweco and Aellia (Belgium) on the possibility of cooperation in energy-saving solutions, leak detection and control, and improving safety in production.

Attending the meeting on behalf of Vinachem were Mr. Lê Hoàng, Deputy General Director of the Group; representatives of functional departments; representatives of Ha Bac Fertiliser and Chemicals Joint Stock Company and Ninh Binh Nitrogenous Fertiliser Limited Company.

Representing Sweco were Mr. Diedenk Van Linder, General Director in charge of Industry and Pharmaceuticals, and Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Trang, Deputy General Director of Sweco Vietnam. Representing Aellia was Mr. Kevin Reyniers, Business Director.

Energy Saving and Enhancing Production Safety

In his remarks at the meeting, Mr. Lê Hoàng, Deputy General Director of Vinachem, noted that the Group currently has more than 30 member units operating in areas such as fertilisers, rubber tyres, basic chemicals, detergents, and apatite mining. Given the diverse nature of its production activities, energy saving, efficient resource use, and ensuring production safety are key priorities for Vinachem.

According to Mr. Lê Hoàng, Vinachem’s factories are seeking solutions to operate more efficiently, safely and economically. These are areas the Group wishes to further explore, evaluating their suitability for each unit’s specific conditions.

At the meeting, Aellia’s representatives introduced solutions for measuring and detecting leaks in production systems. The process includes survey, system mapping, identification of equipment for inspection, selection of measurement methods, monitoring results, and reporting.

Technologies introduced included FID systems capable of detecting extremely low-level leaks, infrared gas imaging cameras, and acoustic measuring devices for valve condition monitoring. These solutions are aimed at identifying leaks not visible to the naked eye, thereby helping businesses control losses and enhance safety during operations.

According to Aellia, measurement results are systematised and reported, forming a basis for maintenance teams to pinpoint and assess the extent of leaks and carry out remediation.

Tailored Solutions for Different Production Needs

During the meeting, representatives of Ninh Binh Fertiliser expressed interest in solutions for recovering emissions at each production stage, as well as research into advanced processing of urea products to enhance value.

Representatives of Ha Bac Fertiliser were interested in the development of new products, including high-purity ammonia for the electronics and semiconductor industries.

Mr. Phùng Ngọc Bộ, Head of Vinachem’s Technical Department, said the Group is keen to learn about technologies, equipment, and production lines in the pharmaceutical chemicals sector.

In addition, Vinachem is interested in research into enhancing capacity and production efficiency, and expanding the scale of existing plants based on solutions suited to technological and operational realities.

Sweco representatives shared their experience in technology consulting, design, and performance improvements for both new projects and operating plants. For existing factories, solutions can be developed to recover and treat gas streams arising during production and return them to the process, thereby reducing losses and making more efficient use of energy and raw materials.

In the field of pharmaceutical chemicals, Sweco presented experience in technology consulting, equipment, design, and production line expansion. This information is of particular interest to Vinachem as it considers new directions for technological collaboration and development.

Continuing to Explore Suitable Solutions

At the meeting, Mr. Lê Hoàng said that Vinachem values Sweco’s consulting and technology experience and Aellia’s measurement and leak control solutions. The Group wishes to continue seeking information and exploring solutions that meet the practical needs of its member units.

Accordingly, Vinachem’s Technical Department will coordinate with member units to receive information and further investigate the technologies, equipment and solutions presented, in order to assess their applicability to each plant.

Access to new solutions will support Vinachem in improving operational efficiency, saving energy, making efficient use of resources, and enhancing safety in production.
