Eastman Chemical shuts Longview, Texas, steam cracker: spokeswoman
"HCC #4 is down because of the pipe failure," spokeswoman Kristin Parkersaid. "The repairs should be completed by the end of the week."
The shutdown coincides with a company filing with the Texas Commission onEnvironmental Quality on Sunday. The emissions event associated with thefiling is expected to last until Tuesday, during which the company is planningto flare 44,688 lb of ethylene and 12,936 lb of propylene, along with otherchemicals.
The Longview complex has ethylene production capacity of 640,000 mt/year,of which 360,000 mt/year are provided by hydrocracking plant No. 4.
Spot ethylene bids for July were heard at 65 cents/lb Mont BelvieuWilliams pipeline basis against heard offers of 67 cents/lb MtB Wms. Augustwas heard bid at 64 cents/lb MtB Wms, offered at 66 cents/lb MtB Wms, andtraded after the Platts Market on Close assessment process was concluded at 65cents/lb MtB Wms.
