Fertilizer Imports Drop Sharply in the First Two Months of 2026

In the first two months of 2026, Vietnam imported 460,170 tons of fertilizers, with a total value of over USD 155.96 million, representing a decrease of 47.1% in volume and 45.5% in value compared to the same period in 2025.
According to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs, in February 2026, Vietnam imported 215,157 tons of fertilizers worth USD 80.94 million, at an average price of USD 376.2 per ton. This reflects a decrease of 12.1% in volume, but an increase of 8% in value and 22.9% in price compared to January 2026. Compared to February 2025, imports dropped sharply by 56.3% in volume and 42.7% in value, while prices rose by 31.1%.
Overall, in the first two months of 2026, fertilizer imports reached 460,170 tons, valued at over USD 155.96 million, with an average price of USD 338.9 per ton. This marks a decline of 47.1% in volume and 45.5% in value, but a 2.9% increase in price compared to the same period in 2025.
China remained the largest supplier of fertilizers to Vietnam, accounting for 53.3% of total import volume and 48.3% of total import value, with 245,096 tons worth USD 75.25 million at an average price of USD 307 per ton. Compared to the same period in 2025, imports from China decreased by 23.4% in volume and 12.3% in value, while prices increased by 14.5%.
Russia ranked second, accounting for 8.1% of total volume and 16.2% of total value, with 37,433 tons worth USD 25.22 million at an average price of USD 673.8 per ton. This represents a sharp decline of 63.5% in volume and 55.9% in value, but a price increase of 20.8%.
Laos followed, accounting for 7.5% of total volume and 7.6% of total value, with 34,660 tons valued at USD 11.83 million at an average price of USD 341.4 per ton. Imports from Laos decreased by 36.1% in volume and 14.2% in value, while prices rose by 34.3%.
Overall, fertilizer imports from most markets in the first two months of 2026 declined compared to the same period in 2025.
