It is strongly supported by Government organizations and leading industry enterprises including The Ministry of Industry and Trade, The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (VINACOMIN) and many other local and international exhibiting companies and mining trade associations.

Practical demand

Vietnam is endowed with a wide variety of mineral deposits. The principal mineral reserves are antimony, bauxite, carbonate rocks, chrome, clays, anthracite coal, copper, natural gas, gemstones, gold, graphite, iron ore, lead, manganese, mica, nickel, crude petroleum, phosphate rock (apatite), pyrophyllite, rare earths, silica sand, tin, titanium, tungsten and zinc. There are around 200 coal mines with a total reserve of almost 7 billion tonnes, VCCI Exhibition Services reports. VINACOMIN is implementing a series of projects to expand capacity and open new mines. A sum of US$180 million, US$340 million and US$200 million will be invested in six gold mines, seven copper mines and three nickel mines respectively. Meanwhile, another US$180 million will be used in exploration, exploitation and processing of serpentine, barite, graphite, fluorite, bentonite, diatomite and talc. It is necessary to have an international mining exhibition as Mining Vietnam 2012 as of the increasing demand of technology renovation in mining industry to meet Vietnam's growth targets.

A golden opportunity

VCCI Exhibition Services Chief Executive Bui Thi Thuc Anh says, "Mining Vietnam 2012 is a specialist exhibition attracting a large number of well-known mining companies and associations in the world. Alongside the exhibition, a high-level conference program will support the government's strategy to modernize the mining industry to meet regional standards by 2015 and international standards by 2025."

The event is estimated to attract 160 international mining exhibitors. Featured among the exhibits will be excavators, conveyor systems, drilling equipment, draglines, hydraulic equipment and components, graders, hoppers, pumps and valves, mine vehicles, agitators, vibrators, hoppers, ventilation and safety equipment, all aimed to boost Vietnam's mineral recovery and productivity.
