Sinopec Yangtze Petrochemical kicks off ethylene unit overhaul
BEIJING, Aug. 19, 2010 - Sinopec's (NYSE:SNP) Yangtze Petrochemical has kicked off a major overhaul over its 650,000t/y ethylene unit from last week.
The company said this in a statement posted in the website on Thursday, adding that the overhaul is the first of this kind since 2002.
But the statement did not indicate when the overhaul will be completed.
According to Sinopec (SNP.NYSE; 600028.SH; 0386.HK), China's largest oil refiner, Yangtze Petrochemical has an annual crude oil refining capacity of 9 million metric tons (tonnes) and ethylene production capacity of 700,000 metric tons.
The Sinopec subsidiary also runs 1.4-million-tonne/year aromatic hydrocarbon unit, 1.05-million-tonne/year PTA unit and 300,000-tonne/year glycol unit.
