Binh Dien Introduces “Digital Identity” for Every Dau Trau Fertiliser Bag

03:36 PM @ Friday - 18 September, 2026

By simultaneously applying RFID and QR Code technology, Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company can uniquely identify each bag of fertiliser, linking data from the production line to the market. This is more than a step forward in digital management; it also provides an extra “shield” to protect the Dau Trau brand, enabling distributors to control their stock and allowing farmers to verify products easily with a smartphone.

On 17th September 2026, at the Binh Dien Fertilizer – Long An Plant, Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company and My Lan Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to activate the RFID project with integrated QR Codes for production management and product traceability.

The activation ceremony was attended by company leaders, specialists, implementing teams, and factory managers and operators. Immediately after the ceremony, delegates visited the production line to witness the application of RFID tags to each bag and to check data traceability using mobile devices.

This marks the beginning of the system’s trial operation on the actual production line, ahead of Binh Dien’s planned official roll-out for products manufactured at the plant from early 2027.

A Unique Identifier for Every Bag

The core of the project is that each Dau Trau fertiliser bag on the line will be assigned a unique identifier, linked to information about the product, production batch, production time, and its journey through packing, warehousing, dispatch, and distribution.

In this system, RFID is mainly used for internal management in the factory and warehouse. The technology allows automatic readers to simultaneously detect multiple tags within range, eliminating the need for manual scanning as with traditional barcodes.

As products, pallets, or vehicles pass through reader points, the system automatically records data as configured. This enables Binh Dien to reduce manual processes, minimise counting errors, speed up warehousing operations, and improve inventory accuracy.

While RFID supports automated management in production and logistics, the QR Code acts as a direct connection between Binh Dien and distributors, agents, and end users.
With a smartphone, users can scan a QR code on the packaging to check product identification and origin published by Binh Dien. This is a crucial advance, empowering farmers to protect themselves against counterfeit or unclear-origin fertilisers.

An Additional “Shield” for the Dau Trau Brand

The fertiliser market features a wide distribution network, with goods passing through many levels before reaching farmers. Therefore, protecting products and brands cannot rely on packaging or a single security feature alone.

With the new system, each bag is connected to production and distribution data. When verification is needed, Binh Dien can compare the identifier with batch information, warehousing, and distribution routes.

The system can also detect anomalies, such as a QR code being scanned multiple times or appearing in unexpected locations. This data is crucial for the company, distributors, and authorities when verification is required.

However, RFID and QR Codes are not a standalone solution to the counterfeiting problem. Binh Dien sees these as a vital layer in a system comprising quality management, production control, distribution data, market activity, and customer feedback channels.

Assigning an identifier to every bag not only protects the Dau Trau brand, but also the legitimate interests of the distribution network and the millions of farmers who trust Binh Dien products.

From Traceability to Knowledge Transfer

The value of the project goes beyond confirming where and when a bag was produced.

When integrated with the Smart Farming application, the QR code on the packaging can become a “gateway” for farmers to access Binh Dien’s ecosystem of knowledge and services.

After scanning the code, farmers can access guidance on correct product use, dosage, timing, and method; consult nutrition programmes suited to their crops, seasons, and conditions; receive weather and pest alerts; and send queries or product feedback.

In future, this digital access point could connect with customer care, loyalty, and technical support programmes. Thus, a bag of fertiliser becomes not just a nutrient carrier but a means to transfer knowledge and keep farmers connected with the company throughout the growing season.

The message “RFID – Connecting Data, Transferring Knowledge” encapsulates Binh Dien’s vision: technology is not to distance but to bring science, services, and support closer to farmers.

Greater Transparency for the Distribution System

For distributors and agents, the RFID and QR Code system enhances the ability to authenticate stock, cross-check batches, and track distribution flows.

Consistent data between manufacturer and distributor supports warehousing, inventory management, and access to official technical documentation. This gives agents a sound basis to advise farmers on appropriate products for their needs.

Greater transparency in supply also protects honest distributors, limits the risk of unauthorised goods entering the system, and improves customer service quality at local level.

For Binh Dien, real-time data enables monitoring of everything from production to warehousing and delivery; improves inventory accuracy; facilitates product recall or inspection; and boosts forecasting and supply organisation.

Market data will also help the company better understand the needs of each production region, refine customer care, and develop products more closely aligned with real farming practices.

Proactively Meeting New Management Requirements

The project is being implemented as new regulations on product quality and traceability increasingly move towards data-based management.

Law No. 78/2025/QH15, amending the Product and Goods Quality Law, comes into effect from 1st January 2026, along with Government Decree No. 37/2026/NĐ-CP, introducing new requirements and principles for traceability, event logging in the supply chain, transparency, data sharing, and the responsibilities of those conducting traceability.

For fertilisers, the project also helps Binh Dien strengthen compliance with the Crop Production Law and fertiliser management regulations. RFID and QR Codes do not replace quality records, mandatory labelling, or testing, but offer an added layer of data for cross-checking, rapid investigation, and response to anomalies.

Investing in the system at this stage shows Binh Dien is not only meeting current management requirements but is proactively building data infrastructure for a transparent, end-to-end traceable fertiliser supply chain, ready to connect with the national traceability system as required by the authorities.

Technology Must Deliver Real Value

In the go-live phase, the system is being piloted on Production Line 3 at the Binh Dien – Long An Plant. The company is focusing on ensuring compatibility between hardware, RFID tags, readers, software, and business processes; checking processing speed, data accuracy, tag durability under production conditions, and user convenience.

Trial results will be measured using practical data so that Binh Dien and its partners can refine the system before official acceptance and deployment. Based on its effectiveness, the company will develop a suitable rollout plan for other member units.

Mr. Ngô Văn Đông, Party Secretary and General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, emphasised: “RFID with QR Code is not just a technology project. It is Binh Dien’s commitment to quality, transparency, and responsibility towards distributors, agents, and millions of farmers. With each bag uniquely identified and connected to reliable data, we have an extra shield protecting the Dau Trau brand, while farmers gain a tool to verify products and access knowledge and services straight from their phones.”

From a single identifier on the packaging to an integrated data system spanning the entire chain, the RFID and QR Code project marks a significant milestone in Binh Dien’s digital transformation journey.

More importantly, technology is being deployed to address highly specific needs: better product control, brand protection, a more effective distribution system, and a transparent, convenient, and valuable experience for farmers using Dau Trau fertiliser.
