Celebrating the 71st Anniversary of Vietnam Apatit Limited Company
On 23rd September 2026, Vietnam Apatit Limited Company marks its 71st anniversary (23/9/1955 – 23/9/2026). Since its foundation as the Lao Cai Apatit Mine in 1955, the company has gone through periods of construction, production recovery and renewal, and has become a key enterprise in mining, processing, and supplying apatit ore for Vietnam’s chemical industry.
In the history of Apatit Vietnam, 23rd September is associated with two milestones. On 23rd September 1955, the Lao Cai Apatit Mine was officially established. On 23rd September 1958, President Hồ Chí Minh visited the mine site, encouraging staff and workers to unite and compete to produce “more – faster – better – cheaper”.
During the years of war, mine staff and workers maintained production while also fulfilling their duty to defend the country. Three hundred and one staff and workers left for the South to fight. After the 1979 border war, workers returned to the mine, overcame difficulties, and restored production.
In 2005, the company transitioned to a single-member limited liability company model. Alongside the process of innovation, Apatit Vietnam has invested in enhancing its mining, processing, and resource management capacity. The company is currently the country’s sole apatit ore miner, supplying raw materials for fertiliser, chemical production, and supporting agricultural production.
For the 2025–2030 period, Apatit Vietnam has identified science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key directions, while focusing on deep processing, improving resource use efficiency, and opening new mining sites according to planning.
From the earliest mine sites to today’s production activities, the work of Apatit Vietnam’s people remains closely tied to apatit ore and the land of Lao Cai. The experience, techniques, and work ethic accumulated over generations continue to be applied to daily work.
