From a Worker's Hands: The Automatic Tyre Washing Initiative and the Steadfast Journey of Mr. Vũ Hữu Thành

01:40 PM @ Tuesday - 15 September, 2026

Every truck transporting ore in and out of the loading area returns with tyres caked in mud. Cleaning them may seem a minor task, yet it consumes significant time and effort. At the Ore Loading and Consumption Branch of Vietnam Apatit Limited Company, mechanic Vũ Hữu Thành has solved this problem with a simple initiative: the automatic tyre washing system.

When Persistence Becomes a “Weapon”

Anyone who has worked in mining and mineral processing knows the relentless “heat, dust, and noise.” At the Ore Loading and Consumption Branch, where hundreds of trucks go in and out each day, the work of a repairman is far from easy.

Yet, Mr. Vũ Hữu Thành has persevered, day after day, quarter after quarter. By the end of Q2/2026, he had achieved 100% of his assigned output targets—a result borne of countless days without slackening, never letting machinery remain “unwell” for long, and ensuring no breakdown lingers to affect overall progress.

Silent Discipline

Throughout the quarter, Mr. Thành committed no breaches of labour discipline and ensured no safety incidents. For a repairman, safety is not just a rule but is ingrained in each action, every spanner turn, and every climb beneath a machine.

Branch leaders regard him as highly cooperative, always ready to support colleagues and exemplary in his work. He is also active in trade union activities and unit competitions. All these qualities create an image of a reliable worker—someone everyone wants on their shift.

The “Automatic Tyre Washing” Initiative: Small but Mighty

In 2025, Mr. Thành’s initiative, “Upgrading and Installing an Automatic Tyre Washing System”, was recognised by Vietnam Apatit Limited Company.

How many ore trucks pass through the loading area each day? Dust and mud on tyres not only look unsightly but also affect road grip, tyre life, and internal traffic safety. Manual tyre washing is time-consuming, labour-intensive, and insufficiently thorough.

Seeing this, Mr. Thành did not wait for someone else to act. He set about designing and installing an automatic washing system himself. This solution shortens cleaning time, reduces manual effort, and ensures better vehicle hygiene before they leave the area. It is not a major investment, but it addresses a real “pain point” for the branch.

His initiative was recognised, adopted, and is now part of the daily operating procedure at the branch.

Achievement from Simple Things

Thanks to these contributions, Mr. Vũ Hữu Thành was awarded the Grassroots Emulation Fighter title on 13 January 2026 by the General Director of Vietnam Apatit Limited Company. More recently, he received a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Worker of Q2/2026 from the General Director of the Vietnam National Chemical Group.

Across workshops, sites, and production units in the chemical sector, improvements often begin with the people doing the job every day. When initiatives like Mr. Thành’s are recognised, the value is not only in the specific solution but also in encouraging workers to keep observing, thinking, and contributing more to the collective mission.

We wish Mr. Thành continued passion and creativity for even more practical innovations. In that place, amidst the sun and wind of the mines, it is people like him who underpin the strength of an entire workforce.
