PINACO Celebrates 50th Anniversary: Resilient Journey, Expanding from Inner Strength
On April 19 in Ho Chi Minh City, Southern Battery Joint Stock Company (PINACO) held its 50th Anniversary Celebration (April 19, 1976 – April 19, 2026), marking a half-century of building and development.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Đình Khang, Member of the Central Party Committee, Minister of Ethnic Affairs and Religion, and former General Director of Vietnam National Chemical Group; Mr. Lê An Hải, President of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union; Mr. Phùng Mạnh Ngọc, Director of the Chemical Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade); Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Members’ Council of Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem); along with numerous former Vinachem leaders, representatives from departments, agencies, local authorities, partners, customers, and generations of PINACO’s executives and staff.

50 Years – A Journey Not Easy, But Proud
In his remarks, Mr. Lê Văn Năm, General Director of PINACO, reflected on the company’s development from its challenging early days under the subsidy economy. Through periods of renovation and integration, PINACO steadily asserted its position in Vietnam’s battery and accumulator industry and expanded to international markets.
Especially in the past five years, despite numerous challenges such as the pandemic, global economic fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and rising material costs, the company has maintained stable growth. In 2025, revenue increased by 10% and output by 8%, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.

Alongside this, PINACO has accelerated technology investment, promoted digital transformation in management and production, and established a foundation for long-term development.
Currently, the company’s products are present in nearly 50 countries and territories, with export revenue exceeding VND 1,000 billion. PINACO has also maintained the “Vietnam High-Quality Goods” title for 30 consecutive years and has been honored seven times as a “Vietnam National Brand.”
According to Mr. Lê Văn Năm, the 50-year milestone is not just a time for reflection but also a springboard for the next stage of development. In the coming years, the company will continue focusing on human resource development, driving digital transformation, expanding markets sustainably, and remaining steadfast with its “green” strategy.
He also expressed gratitude to generations of staff and workers, as well as partners and customers, for their companionship and contributions to PINACO’s current achievements.
A New Phase: Greater Competition, Higher Demands
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp, on behalf of the leadership of Vietnam National Chemical Group, expressed deep gratitude for the support and direction from central and local authorities that have facilitated the company’s development. He also acknowledged the enduring contributions of generations of leaders, staff, and workers, as well as the trust of partners and customers at home and abroad. This companionship is the foundation for the company’s ongoing stable and sustainable development.

Founded immediately after national reunification, the company was tasked with providing energy products for manufacturing and daily life. From Con Ó batteries to Dong Nai accumulators, the business has gradually affirmed its position as a leading unit in Vietnam’s battery and accumulator sector.
The company’s products are not only widely present in domestic and international markets but are also closely linked with daily life across the country—from remote, border, and island areas, supporting fishermen at sea, lighting up fishing boats, and meeting technical requirements in various industries, ensuring reliable operation for vehicles and equipment.
As the battery and accumulator industry enters a new cycle of competition, tied to the rise of electric vehicles and renewable energy, the company faces both breakthrough opportunities and immense pressures regarding technology and competitiveness. To meet these demands, the enterprise has proactively researched and gradually mastered new technologies, including the S76 sodium-ion battery line—a move in line with the trend toward green, safe, and sustainable energy.
Over 50 years, the company’s contributions have been recognized by the Party and State with prestigious awards such as the “Hero of Labor in the Renovation Era” title, the Independence Order, and various Labor Orders. These honors are both a source of pride and motivation for further development in the new era.
The year 2026 is identified as a pivotal year, ushering in a period of growth with double-digit targets. In this context, the 50-year milestone is not only a summary point, but also the starting line for a new journey with higher requirements, tighter standards, and greater competitive pressure.
Emphasizing the direction for the future, he stated that while 50 years is an important foundation, the next phase will be the real test of the company’s competitiveness. Building on accumulated values, PINACO needs to focus on key pillars:
- Mastering technology, developing products with long-term competitiveness, especially in green product lines.
- Maintaining market share through quality, expanding selectively, and avoiding unsustainable growth.
- Investing strategically and at the right time to create sustainable advantages in technology, productivity, and cost.
- Building a capable team, especially technical and management staff able to master and innovate technology.
- Genuinely caring for working conditions, the lives, and the engagement of employees—the foundation for long-term development.
- Concluding the ceremony, the message for the new era was clear: not only to maintain past achievements, but also to break through more strongly, adapt more quickly, and develop sustainably under the orientation of “Innovation – Acceleration – Breakthrough – Pioneering – Sustainability.”
Half a century is a journey of accumulation and perseverance. Ahead lies a new journey—where PINACO continues to nurture its aspirations to reach further, affirming its position not only domestically but also on the world stage.
