Amidst the nationwide atmosphere of celebrating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026) and International Workers’ Day (May 1), on April 24, the Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company (Casumina) held its 50th anniversary celebration. This event is not only a milestone for the company but also a significant highlight in the development process of Vietnam’s chemical industry.

Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Phùng Mạnh Ngọc – Director General of the Chemicals Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp – Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam National Chemical Group; Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú – CEO of Vietnam National Chemical Group; Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông – President of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union; along with leaders of the Group, generations of company leaders, partners, customers, and all officers and employees.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyễn Đình Khoát, General Director of the Company, shared:

Half a century of Casumina’s formation and development has been closely associated with Vietnam’s pivotal phases of transformation. Since the early years after 1976, despite lacking infrastructure, outdated technology, and limited resources, generations of staff and employees have persistently laid the initial foundations, gradually building production capacity, establishing trust, and shaping the company’s direction.

In times of hardship, the company’s resilience was forged. The spirit of overcoming adversity, enduring determination, solidarity, and responsibility became core values throughout each stage of development. These values not only underpinned the company’s survival but also provided the driving force for future breakthroughs.

Entering the era of renovation and economic integration, Casumina has gradually transformed itself. The company proactively innovated technology, improved production capacity, expanded its market reach, and deepened its participation in the industrial value chain. From primarily serving domestic demand, Casumina’s products have reached international markets, affirming the stature and reputation of a Vietnamese brand.

Affirming Its Role in the Industrial Chain 

Within the overall development of the chemical industry, Casumina plays a leading role in the production of tires and technical rubber—fields that are vital for transportation and goods circulation, key pillars of the economy.

As a member unit of Vietnam National Chemical Group, Casumina’s growth is closely linked to the Group’s overall strategy. The Group’s attention, guidance, and support have enabled the company to steadily stabilize production, enhance competitiveness, and maintain its key role in the rubber and transportation production chain.

In a market environment marked by fluctuations and increasing competitive pressure, the company has maintained stability and progressively improved operational efficiency. The process of technological renewal, product quality enhancement, and management system strengthening has been synchronously implemented, laying the foundation for sustainable development.

In reality, there have been times when the company faced considerable challenges in organizing operations and business activities. However, with close direction from the Group and efforts to streamline operations, strengthen discipline, and leverage internal strength, Casumina has gradually overcome challenges, maintained stable production, and improved performance.

The achievements are the crystallization of the wisdom, efforts, and sense of responsibility of many generations of staff and employees. The continuous, persistent succession has created a solid foundation, helping to shape the company’s identity and resilience in the new era.

With these contributions, Casumina has been honored with the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation Era (2005), the Third-Class Labor Medal (2011), and many other prestigious awards by the Party and the State. These honors are well-deserved recognition for a persistent, responsible, and steadfast journey of development.

Development Orientation: Innovation – Breakthrough – Sustainability 

In his directive speech at the ceremony, Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp – Chairman of the Board of Members of the Group – emphasized: Enterprises must actively adapt to the new context, continuously enhance their internal capabilities, and effectively seize development opportunities.

In the coming period, Vietnam National Chemical Group targets double-digit growth, based on promoting scientific and technological innovation, accelerating digital transformation, and vigorously implementing green transition programs. The entire industry’s mission is not only to expand scale but also to improve quality, efficiency, and ensure sustainable development.

For Casumina, the development orientation is clear: continue modernizing production, improving productivity and product quality; expanding the market and increasing brand value; placing customers at the center; and focusing on developing high-quality human resources. At the same time, business activities must be closely linked to environmental protection and efficient resource use.

This is not only an immediate task but also a long-term, strategic direction, laying a solid foundation for sustainable development under the spirit of “Solidarity – Innovation – Acceleration – Breakthrough – Success.”

The 50th anniversary is an opportunity to look back on the journey, honor previous generations, and affirm the trust and determination for the road ahead. The accumulated values are not only the company’s achievements but also the basis for further development.
