As part of its drive for innovation and technical improvement, Southern Battery Joint Stock Company (PINACO) has reaped significant economic benefits from the initiative “Reducing Negative Punch Rib Thickness from 0.7 mm to 0.6 mm” by Mr. Lê Minh Trường at Dong Nai 2 Battery Factory, generating savings of over VND 7 billion per year.

Product Improvement While Ensuring Quality

Aiming to reduce material consumption and production costs, Mr. Lê Minh Trường researched and trialled processes related to grid manufacture. Through practical production experience, he identified the potential to reduce the negative punch rib thickness and proposed adjusting it from 0.7 mm to 0.6 mm.

Throughout trials, technical parameters were strictly controlled to assess whether the product would continue to meet requirements after the reduction in rib thickness. Results showed that the improved product still met all quality standards, with no impact on performance or service life.

On the basis of these trials, the solution was applied to production for suitable CMF battery lines.

Saving Raw Materials, Delivering Over VND 7 Billion in Benefits Annually

Reducing the negative punch rib thickness has cut the amount of raw material used in production, particularly alloyed lead – one of the most costly battery materials.

Following implementation, the initiative enabled Dong Nai 2 Battery Factory to lower material consumption, generating annual savings exceeding VND 7 billion.

The initiative is highly practical, meeting technical requirements for continued application to appropriate CMF battery lines across PINACO’s system.

From a single technical adjustment, this innovation has delivered direct results in saving raw materials and production costs. It is a practical example of how PINACO continues to improve processes, control costs, and enhance production efficiency.
