Southern Fertilizer Controls Fluoride Emissions Using Composite Piping
To control fluoride gas emissions at the Supe phosphate mixing drum area, Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company has implemented an improved recovery system using composite piping directly connected to the paddle absorption tank. This solution helps to reduce gas leakage at the production site, improve working conditions, and enhance the efficiency of gas collection and treatment.

At the mixing drum area, fluoride gas and other corrosive and toxic compounds are generated during production. If not properly collected and treated, these gases can escape onto the operating platform, affecting the working environment and increasing the load on the central extraction system.
To address this, Southern Fertilizer has researched and installed a pipeline made from composite material, which is resistant to corrosion in a chemical environment. The pipeline is directly connected from the mixing drum head, channelling the fluoride-containing gas to the paddle absorption tank for treatment.
Collecting gas at the source helps minimise leaks and gas emission on the plant floor. The gas stream is directed to the absorption system instead of being released into the work environment, reducing the risk of worker exposure to hazardous gases and chemicals.
The solution has been implemented using the existing system and does not alter the main structure of the production line. Directing the high-fluoride gas stream to the paddle absorption tank also lightens the load on the central extraction system, supporting stable operation of the plant.
By addressing gas emissions at the point of origin, Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company has achieved better control over gas dispersion in the workplace. This is a practical solution that demonstrates the effectiveness of equipment improvement and the application of suitable materials to enhance occupational safety and production efficiency.
