Viet Nam becomes Russia’s biggest trade partner in Southeast Asia

The two-way trade between Viet Nam and Russia hit US$3.52 billion in the first nine months of 2024, an increase of 40.4 percent from the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Of the above figure Viet Nam’s exports stood at US$1.78 billion, up 50.1 percent against the same period last year.

Viet Nam’s top exports included aquactic products with US$164.5 million, up 94.7 percent against the same period in 2023; rice US$6.5 million, up 130.9 percent; garments and textiles US$616.3 million, up 117.7 percent.

Both sides’ enterprises are encouraged to optimize advantages of the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and Eurasian Economic Union formulated by Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan./.  – VGP –
