The Vietnamese economy expanded 7.4 percent in the third quarter this year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported Sunday.
The country's economic growth was mainly driven by strong expansion of manufacturing and processing sector, with 11.41 percent in the July-September period, said GSO General Director Nguyen Thi Huong.
The consumer price index increased by 0.29 percent in September from the previous month and 2.18 percent in the third quarter from the same period last year, Nguyen said.
Foreign arrivals to Viet Nam reached over 12.7 million in the first nine months, up 43 percent compared to the same period last year.
In the reviewed period, Viet Nam's trade with the rest of the world was estimated to reach US$578.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.3 percent, of which the export value rose 15.4 percent to US$299.6 billion.
Viet Nam is likely to achieve the whole-year growth goal of 6.5-7 percent thanks to positive economic figures over the last three months, said the GSO General Director./.
