The 5 per cent increase in the price of electricity from Thursday has
made people and businesses more worried about the possible increase in
the cost of other goods and services in tough economic times.

Vietnam’s bonds fell, pushing the
five-year yield to a 10-week high, on speculation quickening inflation
and a surging interbank rate are damping demand. The dong was little
changed.

State-owned Electricity of Vietnam (EVN)
increased electricity prices by an average of five percent as of August
1, the fifth hike since 2011.

HA NOI (VNS)— The ministries of Finance and Industry and Trade
unexpectely agreed for petrol retailers to increase prices by VND460 per
litre to the record high VND24,570 from 8pm yesterday.
