The US-based telecommunications company AT&T has said it sees the Vietnamese market as the most-promising in the ASEAN region, the Channel NewsAsia (CNA) reported on April 23.
The company is planning to expand by focusing more on customer demand this year, the CNA said, adding that Vietnam presents many opportunities for businesses thanks to its enterprising population.
AT&T is capitalising on in the surge in business activity there by building up the communications infrastructure, especially in areas where its customers have a large presence.
The company started its operation in Vietnam with a small base two years ago.
The strength of the growth is attributable at least in part to the fact that people use the company’s services for their daily activities, Choo Hock Lye, Vice President of AT&T's ASEAN Sales Centre, was quoted as saying.
Still, they must enhance and use the services for their own infrastructure requirements unless they close down the office, he added.
Within the Asia-Pacific region, AT&T’s sales on the ASEAN market grew 18 percent last year, slightly higher than the 16 percent growth recorded in 2008. This year, AT&T has set aside a billion USD to deliver more applications, services and support for customers across the globe./.
