FDI registered capital hits 8.43 bln USD

Foreign investors registered nearly 8.43 billion USD in FDI in the firsthalf of the year, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA)under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The figureincludes 525 million USD of additional capital for 121 existingprojects, a year-on-year increase of 11 percent in value, and 7.9billion USD of newly-licenced projects, a rise of 43 percent in terms ofcapital compared to the same period last year.

In June, 78new projects were licensed with total registered capital of over 800million USD while 14 current projects asked for a combined capitalraising of 122 million USD.

FIA also reported that as many as5.4 billion USD of FDI were disbursed in the period, representing ayear-on-year increase of 6 percent.

During the period,production in FDI sector saw strong recovery.

Thesector exports, including crude oil, reached 17.2 billion USD, ayear-on-year rise of 26.2 percent.

Meanwhile, imports wereestimated at 16.1 billion USD, up 49 percent over the same period lastyear./.
