Malaysian investors eye Viet Nam

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian businesses are interested in the Vietnamese market and recognise its fine investment environment, said Michael Chai, chairman of the legal committee of the Kuala Lumpur Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at an investment promotion seminar in the Malaysian capital on Thursday.

The seminar, co-organised by the chamber, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and banking giant HSBC, drew over 450 representatives of Malaysian agencies and businesses.

Nguyen Ba Cuong, head of investment promotion of the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Agency, pointed to support industries, renewable energy, high-tech products, bio-technology, IT, agriculture, education, health care, manufacturing and infrastructure development as areas in Viet Nam in particular need of investment.
