September CPI Goes up 0.82 Percent

(VEN) - The General Statistical Office said that the consumer price index (CPI) this September increased 0.82 percent from a month ago, 16.63 percent against December 2010 and 22.42 percent against a year ago. This increased the CPI in the first nine months of this year to 18.16 percent against the same months last year.

The General Statistical Office also said that increased CPI in September was largely due to the high increase at 8.62 percent for the educational sector. The CPI for other goods and services increased less than one percent or even reduced. These include garments, hats and footwear going up 0.92 percent, culture, entertainment and tourism up 0.62 percent, drinks and tobacco up 0.59 percent, household appliances up 0.51 percent, housing and construction materials up 0.37 percent, and medicine, medical care and restaurant services up 0.28 percent.
The price of gold this September went up 13.14 percent against a month ago, up 30.48 percent against December 2010 and up 61.26 percent against a year ago. The price of the US dollar also increased 0.8 percent, 1.12 percent and 7.78 percent, respectively./.
