Vietnam raises fuel prices for fourth time this year

Petrolimex, the country’s biggest importer and trader of oil products, raised its pump prices for gasoline by 1.3 percent on Monday, the fourth hike this year.

With the latest adjustment, starting at 8 p.m. June 23, popular 92-octane (92 RON) gasoline is now priced at VND25,230 per liter (US$1.17) and 95-octane (95 RON) gasoline at VND25,730 per liter ($1.19).

The company also increased kerosene’s price to VND22,540 ($1.04) per liter, a rise of 0.75 percent, and that of mazut by 1.4 percent to VND18,860 ($0.87) per kilogram.

In the meantime, the retail price of diesel remains VND22,480 ($1.04) per liter.

The first fuel hike this year occurred in February; the last were put in place on April 22 bringing Petrolimex’s retail price for 92 RON to VND24,900 ($1.1) per liter, the highest-ever.

Last year Vietnam’s fuel prices saw five hikes and six cuts.
