HCMC – Vietnam expects to achieve total export revenue of US$78 billion next year, or a 10% increase from this year’s estimated figure of US$71 billion, said an official of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Le Van Duoc, director of the ministry’s Planning Department, told a ministerial meeting online on Monday that better export prices and wider markets would likely help Vietnam realized its export growth target.
Concretely, he noted, the export price of cashew nuts in the January-November period increased by 21% compared to last year, tea by 11%, pepper by 40%, rice by 4.8% and rubber by a remarkable 81%.
Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade, predicted the country’s 2010 trade deficit would hover around US$12 billion, falling by US$1 billion compared to last year and the lowest level in the past four years. This deficit is equivalent to some 17% of total export revenue, lower than the target of 20% endorsed by the National Assembly.
