Vietnamese businesses get contracts worth 50 mln USD in Nanning

Vietnamese businesses signed contracts worth an estimated 1 trillion VND(50 million USD) at the freshly-ended China-ASEAN Expo 2010 inNanning , China ’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Phan Viet Hien, an Industry and Trade Ministry official in charge ofVietnam ’s booth at the seventh China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO 2010),announced the figure on Oct. 24, adding that it was 1.5 times over thatat last year’s Expo.

By Oct. 23, signed contracts and retailsales by Vietnamese businesses at the Expo were valued at 700 billionVND (35 million USD). Of them, wooden works and fine arts and handicraftproducts made up 40-50 percent.

Hien said Vietnamese products, including green bean cake and Bien Hoa coffee sold very well at the CAEXPO 2010.
As many 120 Vietnamese businesses, the ever largest number, took part in the CAEXPO 2010, held from Oct. 20-24.

Theydisplayed farm products and processed food, wooden furniture andhandicrafts, and introduced projects calling for investment, trade andtourist services.

According to the Ministry, two-way tradebetween Vietnam and China rose by 20-25 percent in recent years.China is the largest exporter to Vietnam and ranks third amongimporters of Vietnamese goods.

In the first sixmonths of this year, two-way trade between the two countries reached11.9 billion USD, of which Vietnam ’s exports rose 45 percent to 2.8billion USD over the same period last year.

The two-way trade is expected to reach 25 billion USD for the whole year./.
