Vinachem Expands Agricultural Cooperation Opportunities in Angola
On June 19, 2026, at the Embassy of Angola in Vietnam, Mr. Isaac Francisco Maria dos Anjos, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Angola, received and worked with the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) to discuss opportunities for cooperation in fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and agricultural production development in Angola.
Attending the meeting on behalf of Vinachem were Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director of the Group, and Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Giang, Deputy Head of the Planning and Business Department.
At the meeting, Vinachem’s leadership provided an overview of the Group’s production and business activities. Vinachem is a 100% state-owned enterprise, producing and supplying essential chemical products for various sectors of the economy, such as agriculture, industry, energy, and consumer goods. Its main product groups include fertilizers, plant protection chemicals, basic chemicals, industrial chemicals, detergents, batteries, accumulators, rubber tires and tubes, and mineral products for fertilizer production.
Vinachem’s products are currently consumed domestically and exported to about 70 countries and territories. In the fertilizer sector, Vinachem supplies over 40–42% of the fertilizer output for agricultural production in Vietnam, with a full range of products such as urea, DAP, phosphate, potash, and specialized NPK for many crops.
Vinachem now has 12 fertilizer production units, including 2 urea plants, 2 DAP plants, 2 fused phosphate plants, 2 superphosphate plants, and NPK plants. The Group’s fertilizers are exported to markets such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện noted that fertilizers have played a key role in Vietnam’s agricultural development, boosting crop yields and contributing to food security. Besides production, Vinachem also works with agricultural extension systems to implement technical support programs and transfer experience in efficient fertilizer use to producers.
Vinachem representatives expressed their desire to coordinate with relevant Angolan agencies to study the possibility of supplying fertilizer products tailored to local soil conditions and agricultural needs. The Group is also ready to share experience in fertilizer production, soil improvement, and yield enhancement.
During the meeting, Minister Isaac Francisco Maria dos Anjos said that Angola’s fertilizer demand is high, while domestic supply is limited at about 200,000 tons per year. Angolan agriculture faces challenges, including widespread acidic soils, which require soil improvement solutions and increased use of suitable fertilizers.
According to the Minister, Angola has great demand for various fertilizers such as NPK, phosphate, nitrogen, and soil amendment products. The country currently has about 6,000 hectares of soybeans and much other farmland needing expansion and productivity increases. Meanwhile, domestic fertilizer production capacity does not yet meet actual demand.
The Minister also noted that most fertilizers are currently imported from Morocco, Senegal, and Russia. He believes Vietnam in general and Vinachem in particular could become potential partners in supplying fertilizers, providing technical support, and developing investment projects in Angola’s agriculture sector.
In addition to fertilizers, Angola is interested in cooperation in plant protection chemical production and exploring the establishment of future joint ventures. Minister Isaac Francisco Maria dos Anjos said that Vinachem’s entry into the Angolan market will help diversify the supply of agricultural inputs and meet the country’s production development needs.

Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện affirmed that Vinachem is ready to explore specific cooperation opportunities based on connections with reputable, capable enterprises and with support from Angolan authorities.
Concluding the meeting, the Angolan Minister of Agriculture and Forestry said he would invite Vinachem’s leadership to visit and conduct a field survey in Angola to learn about the investment environment, market demand, and cooperation opportunities with local businesses. The Minister also noted that not only Angola but also neighboring countries such as Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have significant fertilizer demand, opening up prospects for cooperation and market development for Vietnamese enterprises in the future.
