Fertilizer Imports Continue to Decline in the First Three Months of 2026

In the first three months of 2026, fertilizer imports reached 914,422 tons, valued at over USD 303.25 million, down 32.24% in volume and 29.52% in value compared to the same period in 2025.

According to preliminary data from the Customs Department, in March 2026, Vietnam imported 455,823 tons of fertilizer, worth USD 147.67 million, with an average price of USD 323.97 per ton. This represents an increase of 111.86% in volume and 82.46% in value but a decrease of 13.88% in price compared to January 2026. Compared to March 2025, imports decreased by 5.79% in volume but increased by 2.44% in value and 8.74% in price.

Overall, in the first three months of 2026, fertilizer imports totaled 914,422 tons, valued at over USD 303.25 million, with an average price of USD 331.63 per ton. This represents a decrease of 32.24% in volume and 29.52% in value, but an increase of 4.01% in price compared to the first three months of 2025.

China remained the largest supplier of fertilizer to Vietnam, accounting for 52.63% of total volume and 47.18% of total import value. Fertilizer imports from China reached 481,244 tons, valued at USD 143.07 million, with an average price of USD 297.3 per ton, down 17.26% in volume and 1.21% in value, but up 19.39% in price compared to the first three months of 2025.

Russia ranked second, accounting for 6.07% of total volume and 12.62% of total value, with imports reaching 55,529 tons, valued at USD 38.28 million, and an average price of USD 689.31 per ton. This represents a sharp decrease of 60.94% in volume and 53.7% in value, but an increase of 18.54% in price.

Next was Laos, accounting for 8.34% of total volume and 8.69% of total value, with imports of 76,227 tons, valued at USD 26.34 million, and an average price of USD 345.53 per ton. This represents a decrease of 24.82% in volume and 0.42% in value, but an increase of 32.45% in price.

In general, fertilizer imports from most markets declined in the first three months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
