DAP 2 – VINACHEM Conducts Firefighting and Incident Response Drill 2026
On April 29, 2026, DAP No. 2 Joint Stock Company – VINACHEM organized a drill at its plant to practice firefighting, rescue, and response plans for chemical and environmental incidents in 2026. The activity aimed to test readiness and evaluate the effectiveness of organization, command, and coordination among forces when incidents occur in reality.

The drill was attended by representatives of local management agencies and relevant authorities, including the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai Province, the Management Board of Lao Cai Economic Zone, and the local Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force. On the company’s side, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy General Director, participated with the on-site firefighting team and related departments.
The drill scenario simulated a fire at the sulfur warehouse—a high-risk area for fire, explosion, and toxic gas release. According to the script, the fire could spread, emitting SO₂ gas that would threaten worker health and the surrounding environment. If not promptly handled, the sulfur could smolder, create uncontrollable hot flows, and increase the risk of pollution as firefighting water carries chemicals into the environment.

The drill area was arranged independently, with an internal transport system enabling easy access and deployment of forces. Fire-fighting equipment, including wall-mounted hydrants, external fire posts, and portable extinguishers, was fully equipped to meet operational requirements.
During the drill, response steps were implemented according to established procedures. Upon detecting the incident, the on-site team cut power to the area, initiated alarms, and notified authorities as regulated. Simultaneously, wind direction, affected areas, and evacuation of workers were assessed and organized along with initial firefighting efforts.

The on-site firefighting force used available equipment to control the fire, cool surrounding areas, limit fire spread, and control the release of smoke and toxic gases. Medical teams were on standby to address any health issues affecting workers. When professional rescue forces arrived, coordinated firefighting and rescue operations were executed under unified command.
Through the drill, the company reassessed its ability to operate under the "four-on-the-spot" principle: on-the-spot command, forces, equipment, and logistics. The exercise enabled departments to grasp incident response procedures, coordinate smoothly, and meet requirements set out in the simulated scenario.
This drill also served as a basis to review, adjust, and improve the company’s firefighting, rescue, chemical, and environmental incident response plans in the future. Given the inherent risks of chemical production, maintaining regular drills is considered an important solution to ensure production safety and minimize damage should incidents occur.
